Charles Hotel

Many years ago, there was a vacant lot on the corner of JFK Street and Memorial Drive overlooking the Charles River.

The sweeping views and central location of the land had attracted none other than John F. Kennedy, who selected the site for his
Presidential Library, to be close to his alma mater.

However, when the time for development drew near, residents of Harvard Square questioned the potential commercialism that such a development would bring to their neighborhood. Today, ten story Charles Hotel, stands next to the JFK School of Government.

In its 16-year history, the hotel has been host to celebrities, musicians, academics, politicians, presidents, and global and religious leaders. Our guests range from TV host Bob Barker to the Dalai Lama.
